Six slots, one per age, decide which collections are active in a fight. The setups below are the ones Boah and Autumn play; under them, every active collection is listed by age with what it is good for.
Ready-made setups
Each row is the equip bar in the game: one collection per age slot. The notes under a setup are its author's own.
All-round setup
Boah
The most efficient overall setup so far against very tanky enemies, especially in the tower, and Boah's own main PvP setup.
- Ice Age
Model of Noah’s Ark - Stone Age
Flintstone Pedal Car - Bronze Age
Golden Mask of Agamemnon - Classical
Olympia Olive Wreath - Medieval
Holy Hand Grenade - Renaissance
The Creation of Adam
- Icarus’ Wings only come in rarely; in very few cases they give a better result.
Cavalry mirage
Autumn (Ice, S12)
Autumn's most successful setup in cavalry mirage.
- Ice Age
Prometheus’ Torch - Stone Age
Thor’s Hammer - Bronze Age
Golden Mask of Agamemnon - Classical
Brutus’ Dagger - Medieval
Notre-Dame de Paris Replica - Renaissance
Galileo’s Telescope
- Cavalry brings Pompey and a lot of DoT and Pursuit heroes, so extending the buff when Pompey's barrier triggers gives you about three rounds of invincibility.
PvE: tower, guild boss, invasion
Autumn (Ice, S12)
Autumn's current PvE formation.
- Ice Age
Model of Noah’s Ark - Stone Age
Thor’s Hammer - Bronze Age
Golden Mask of Agamemnon - Classical
Brutus’ Dagger - Medieval
Holy Hand Grenade - Renaissance
Galileo’s Telescope
- The hammer can be swapped for the pedal car, and the ark for the torch, without much trouble.
- If the dagger gets stuck, swap it for the wreath but keep the telescope (in the tower).

Ice Age

Prometheus’ Torch
In 1 setupPermanent ATK and skill damage buff, good in every build. The skill percentage also feeds off the ATK increase, so this is a lot of buff.

Model of Noah’s Ark
In 2 setupsEvery 4 rounds it triggers four times damage for the first hero in formation order who has not cast a skill yet. Anti-seal and best for deep builds: it moves even while sealed, but you have to survive the whole round for full value.

Scarab Amulet
Attack grows over 5 rounds and then stays. Good all round, slower to start than the torch.

Pandora’s Box
Good for wide builds. High risk, high reward.

Stone Age

Thor’s Hammer
In 2 setupsAnti-crit and anti-deep; close to mandatory once you climb high enough in the tower, but it needs healing or a lot of HP to carry you long term.

Flintstone Pedal Car
In 1 setupDamage reducer, anti-wide, good all round: a shield below 50% HP and a permanent buff after the shield.

Model of the Minotaur’s Labyrinth
Heals below 50% HP, better with heal stackers.

Heimdall’s Horn
Damage reduction stacking over 5 rounds, then permanent. Good all round.

Bronze Age

Golden Mask of Agamemnon
In 3 setupsSteals ATK from the enemy and raises your own for the first 5 rounds. Excellent for deep builds and still the best all-round pick for offensive modes where you will not die, such as guild boss and invasion.

Wings of Icarus
Revives after everyone is dead. Can swing a fight in mystic tower or PvP when your healing is strong. Useless in guild boss and invasion apart from the stats.

Trojan Horse
Seals all movement after 3 skills. A seal build together with the wreath works because they do not overlap, but both are percentage triggers, so it stays unreliable. When it does keep working you can stop someone 2 rounds out of 3 unless they have a forced move.

Ötzi’s Copper Axe
Anti-deep, debuffs every 3 rounds. There are better picks in this slot.
4 collections shown
Classical

Olympia Olive Wreath
In 1 setupNeeds 2 debuffs; every 2 rounds it has a chance to stop the enemy from moving at all. Generally recommended, but apart from the stats useless in guild boss and imperial invasion.

Brutus’ Dagger
In 2 setupsDoT focused: it adds an extra trigger for DoT damage. Good all round and the best pick in this slot for guild boss and imperial invasion.

Discobolus
Debuff extender, DoT focused (it extends DoT as well). Situational.

Dead Sea Scrolls
Raises DoT damage. Situational.
4 collections shown
Medieval

Notre-Dame de Paris Replica
In 1 setupPursuit focused and good for wide builds: extra damage every time a skill or a Pursuit goes off. Good all round.

Holy Hand Grenade
In 2 setupsCrit focused and good for deep builds: more crit damage, and more skill damage the more heroes fall, leaving your deep heroes standing.

Cross of Lorraine Flag
Pursuit focused, good for wide builds, with a near permanent debuff.

Plague Doctor Mask
Flat ATK and crit buff, permanent.
4 collections shown
Renaissance

The Creation of Adam
In 1 setupShields when you heal. Strongest with shield enhancers and several healers.

David
Needs 2 buffs — take permanent buffs from other collections to be sure — and heals every 2 rounds. High HP helps a lot.

Galileo’s Telescope
In 2 setupsBuff extender. Situational and it needs several buffers, but it can keep strong buffs running for a long time. Comes into its own after the Exploration Age.

The Decameron Manuscript
Raises healing. Good with very strong healers, but there are better picks in this slot.
Deep, wide, and free to play
Stick to SSR active collections unless your excavation luck is extremely biased and gives you nothing in SSR.
SSR active collections are situational, so adjust as needed. The more you spend and the deeper you invest into one build — crit, DoT, or Pursuit — the less you have to adjust.
At some point the all-round setup will not beat someone any more, free-to-play sooner than spenders, and in the Mystic Tower sooner than in PvP, because the tower scales more reliably. That is when you start swapping collections to punch up.
Deep
Heavy investment into a few heroes.
Wide
Broad investment into a range of heroes.
Boah's guides call a deep crit build in stars and a wide leveling build the most efficient, but pull luck or preference can leave you with wide stars.
Upgrade priorities
Stars
from Boah
- Upgrade sets evenly, especially the ones that give stats to all heroes.
- Take a set of collections to 3 stars, then 5 stars, and so on.
- If you must invest heavily into one or two, put it into the Replica or the seal collections: active collections whose percentage triggers get better with stars.
- Because active collections get swapped around, heavy star investment there is less efficient.
Levels
from Autumn, in order
- Get everything as high as you can.
- Passive collections that scale stats for all heroes first, such as the Odin collections.
- Then passive collections that raise stats for all heroes, depending on your build.
- Then passive collections for one soldier type, which scale harder — cavalry for Joan, for example — depending on your build.
- Active collections last if you swap them around. If you always use the same ones, level them alongside the passive collections above.
Notes from the authors
Boah
You can upgrade the brushes in your inventory by tapping them, and you are supposed to upgrade all your collections, not only the ones you use.
Autumn (Ice, S12)
Put Joan in #1 and Achilles, Tutankhamun, and Spartacus somewhere in the front row, so crits and Nidhogg's forced front-row attacks pay off. The ark then makes Joan or Achilles attack — your strongest hero, who relies on crits, which the Holy Hand Grenade amplifies further.
Autumn (Ice, S12)
The hammer (a damage cap against burst) and the golden mask (+30% damage and −30% enemy attack) belong in every build.
Autumn (Ice, S12)
Boah was VIP 12 and had everything well upgraded. In a crit build these setups still work un-upgraded, though the wings become far more important against someone stronger who will whack you — in the Mystic Tower as much as in PvP.
